Download Help for Zipped Files

We provide two types of files: Scrapbook Max and Zipped files.Click here for Scrapbook Max File Help

Zipped files are compressed files. This allows for many files to be into a single download and reduces the time necessary to download files. Before you are able to use the items you’ll first need to uncompress the files (or “unzip” them).

If you have a dial-up connection to the Internet, you may want to consider using a download manager, such as GetRight, to resume downloading if an error occurs.

When you purchase a Digital Scrapbook Kit you will receive a link to the Heart of Wisdom download area. Each digital kit include several files.

Your browser will automatically begin to download the file. Your browser will ask you if you'd like to save and to where. Click SAVE and save it to your desktop. That makes it easier to find.

A new icon will appear, probably on your desktop, with the .zip extension. This means that the file has been "zipped," or compressed, and needs to be unzipped in order for it to be used. You may not see the extention but you will know the file is zipped by the zipper across the icon.

Repeat Steps for Each File

Unzipping files

If you are using Windows XP, this functionality is already built into your computer. Simply right-click on the .zip file and select “Extract All…” You will be given a window that walks you through the simple process. See details here

  • If you don’t have Windows XP, you’ll need Winzip. There is a free trial period for WinZip (www.winzip.com) and FilZip (www.filzip.com) is completely free although a donation is recommended for their work. After you have installed WinZip, you can open a Zip file by double clicking it in your e-mail attachment or Explorer window or by starting WinZip and choosing "Unzip or install from an existing Zip file" in the WinZip Wizard.
  • Mac users can use Stuff it Expander to extract the items.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why can't I download all the files at once?

There are different means to access the Internet each with different downloading capabilities, Many are on on dial-up or satellite Internet access, which means that they can have trouble downloading large files. To attempt to help them, we have done our best to limit our file sizes to approximate 25 MB or less. We appreciate the patience of those of you who have the ability to download larger files while you are downloading our smaller sized files.

Notes to certain ISP users:

  • MSN Users: Make sure that you do not use the blue butterfly browser as something is wrong with it and it downloads the web page rather than the zipped file. Simply switching to Internet Explorer (the blue e) will solve this problem.
  • SATELLITE USERS: SATELLITE USERS: As of approximately July 1, 2006 a Fair Usage Policy has been enacted by satellite Internet Service Providers which limits the total amount of files that you can download per hour. If you exceed that total amount per hour that your particular ISP allows your downloads will slow to the point that you are not getting the files correctly or you will get an error message telling you that the site you are downloading from can not be found. It is highly recommended that you carefully watch the file sizes (including attempts at downloading the file, as that would count towards your hourly total) and how much you are downloading at once and that you are well acquainted with your own ISP's Fair Access Policy. You can find out what your ISP's FAP limit is by contacting their customer service department.
  • A SPECIAL NOTE TO HUGHES CUSTOMERS (or it's sub-brands): We have learned from Hughes customer service that there is a Web Acceleration Software that is used by their customers while download that is causing problems with their Scrap Girls downloads. If that is turned off, you can download smoothly. You can contact Hughes for more information.
